Step-by-step

Step 1 Shape Your Christmas Tree and Add a Tree Collar

Make sure every branch has been carefully fluffed before you begin adding any decorations. Properly shaping your tree at the beginning creates a fuller silhouette and gives every bauble, cluster and pick somewhere to sit naturally.

To help, you can stand back every few minutes while fluffing to check how the tree is looking from a distance. This makes it much easier to spot any uneven areas that remain.

Once you’re happy with the shape, position your Silver Metal Quilted Tree Collar around the base before the rest of the decorating. Adding your tree collar first makes it much easier to place neatly around the stand, while introducing a polished silver finish that complements the navy and silver colour palette.

Step 2 Start with Oversized Navy and Silver Baubles

The largest decorations should usually be added to your tree first. So for this navy and silver look, begin with your 20cm oversized navy and silver baubles in matt, shiny and glitter finishes.

Position them around the lower third of the tree, alternating the colours as you work. Because the bottom of the Christmas tree is its widest point, it naturally suits the largest decorations and helps give the design a strong foundation.

Nestle some of the oversized baubles slightly deeper into the blue-toned foliage while bringing others closer to the front. This creates dimension and allows the decorations to sit at different depths, making the tree feel fuller from the beginning.

Step 3 Layer Smaller Navy and Silver Baubles Throughout the Tree

Now repeat the same process using your 15cm navy and silver baubles, again mixing matt, shiny and glitter finishes as you work.

Position them through the middle section of the tree, filling the spaces between the larger decorations rather than placing them randomly. Continue alternating navy and silver so both colours flow evenly through the design.

As you reach the top, switch to your 10cm navy and silver baubles. Using smaller baubles as the tree narrows keeps the design in proportion and creates a natural transition from the oversized decorations at the bottom to the more delicate top of the tree.

Step 4 Add Navy and Silver Bauble Clusters

With the main bauble foundation in place, create navy and silver bauble clusters to fill the remaining gaps.

To make each cluster, thread a mixture of navy and silver shatterproof baubles onto a pipe cleaner, combining matt, shiny and glitter finishes. Arrangements of three, five or seven baubles usually feel more natural than even-numbered groupings.

Vary the colour and finish combinations slightly so each cluster feels different. Once complete, use the pipe cleaner to secure each cluster directly onto the branches.

Tuck some clusters deeper into the tree and position others closer to the outer tips. This adds depth and helps create a fuller, more abundant look without relying on individual baubles alone.

Step 5 Add Texture with Silver Berry Picks

Next, add Silver Berry Picks throughout the tree to fill the spaces between the baubles and clusters.

Tuck the stems slightly into the foliage and shape the berries so they weave between the decorations rather than sitting flat on the surface. This helps soften the gaps between the baubles while carrying the silver colour throughout the tree.

Step 6 Finish the Branches with Navy and Silver Glass Baubles

To help tie the whole look together, add Navy and Silver Glass Baubles throughout the remaining branch tips.

Rather than placing them deep inside the tree, position them closer to the outer tips. This simple technique gives the tree a fuller appearance, creates extra sparkle and allows the glass baubles to reflect the lights beautifully.

Alternate between navy and silver as you work around the tree, spreading the glass decorations evenly from top to bottom. This final bauble layer fills the outer edges of the tree and creates a more detailed, layered finish.

Step 7 Add Navy Firework Sprays

To add more texture and movement, cut your Navy Firework Sprays into smaller individual sections before placing them throughout the tree.

Work the smaller sprays around the baubles, clusters and berry picks, using them to fill any remaining gaps within the greenery. Let some sit deeper between the decorations while others peek out close to the branch tips.

Step 8 Create a Silver Berry Tree Topper

Finish the tree by creating a topper using Silver Berry Picks.

Place the first pick down through the centre of the top branch until it sits securely at your desired height. Then add a few more picks to the left and right, gently fanning them out to create a full, balanced shape.

Repeating the same silver berries used throughout the tree helps the topper feel connected to the rest of the design. Once everything is in place, adjust the stems and berries until the topper flows naturally into the decorations below.

The Finished Look

This navy and silver Christmas tree combines oversized baubles, bauble clusters, silver berry picks, glass decorations and navy firework sprays to create a cool, elegant festive look.

Decorating in layers allows each element to build naturally, from the statement oversized baubles through to the smaller clusters, berry details and finishing glass decorations. The mix of different finishes gives the tree depth, while the blue-toned foliage provides a beautiful backdrop for the silver accents and rich navy details.

Whether you’re styling a living room, hallway or statement
festive display, this navy and silver Christmas tree theme brings a polished
winter finish to your home while feeling full, refined and easy to recreate.
