Make sure every branch of your 7 ft Pre-Lit Balsam Fir Christmas Tree has been carefully fluffed before you begin adding any decorations. Properly shaping your tree at the beginning creates a fuller silhouette and gives the bauble garlands, leaves and sprays somewhere to sit naturally.

To help, you can stand back every few minutes while fluffing to check how the tree is looking from a distance. This makes it much easier to spot any uneven areas that remain.

Once you’re happy with the shape, position your gold metal tree collar around the base before the rest of the decorating. Adding your tree collar first makes it much easier to place neatly around the stand, while creating a polished metallic base that complements the gold and silver theme.

Using floral wire, measure four separate lengths across the width of your tree, starting near the top and working your way down. These will become the four bauble garlands that wrap around the tree, so measure each length against the section where it will eventually sit.

When measuring the fourth and lowest garland, make this length considerably longer. This gives you enough excess for the garland to continue beyond the bottom of the tree and trail loosely towards the floor, creating the dramatic cascading finish seen in the completed design.

Take your first length of floral wire and create a loop at one end by twisting the wire back around itself. This stops the baubles from sliding off as you work and gives you a secure point to attach the finished garland to the tree.

Begin threading on your gold and silver baubles, mixing the 5cm and 6cm sizes with a variety of different finishes. As you build each garland, add 10cm gold and silver baubles at intervals to break up the smaller decorations and create variation in scale.

Keep alternating the colours, sizes and finishes rather than following a strict pattern. The finished garlands should feel full and abundant, with the baubles sitting closely together.

Once each garland is complete, create another loop at the opposite end of the floral wire to secure the baubles in place. Repeat the process until you have all four bauble garlands ready to attach.

Begin with your smallest bauble garland at the top of the tree. Secure the left-hand loop at the highest point where you want the garland to sit, then draw it across the front of the tree on a gentle downward diagonal before securing the right-hand side.

Once attached, adjust the baubles and nestle the garland slightly between the branch tips so it feels integrated into the tree rather than sitting flat on the surface.

Repeat with the remaining garlands, working your way down the tree and keeping the rows as evenly spaced as possible. This helps the diagonal movement continue consistently from top to bottom.

When you reach the fourth and lowest garland, secure the left-hand side as before, but leave the longer end loose. Allow the extra length to continue naturally beyond the tree and trail down towards the floor.

To create the statement base detail, take another length of floral wire and measure from the bottom right-hand section of your fourth garland, down to the floor and back up again to form a large loop shape.

Using a mixture of 10cm, 15cm and 20cm gold and silver baubles, thread them onto the wire to create a second oversized bauble garland. Mix the sizes, colours and finishes throughout so the larger baubles feel like a continuation of the main garland design.

Once complete, secure the garland and position it at the bottom of the fourth garland so the oversized baubles sit in front of the cascading section. Allow the loop to rest naturally on the floor, creating a bold statement cluster at the base of the tree.

With the bauble garlands in place, take your Gold Leaf Christmas Tree Sprays and Silver Leaf Christmas Tree Sprays and cut them into smaller sections.

Nestle the individual leaf stems into both the tops and bottoms of each bauble garland, alternating between gold and silver as you work. This helps the metallic foliage follow the same sweeping movement as the baubles.

Vary the direction of the leaves rather than positioning every piece the same way. Some can follow the direction of the garland, while others can face the opposite way to add texture and make the foliage feel more natural.

Next, add Silver Berry Christmas Tree Sprays throughout the design to soften the spaces between the bauble garlands.

Position the berry stems around the garlands, changing the direction they face as you move around the tree. Allow them to extend into the open spaces between each row, helping to fill the greenery while visually connecting the four garlands together.

Continue until the berries feel evenly distributed from the top of the tree down towards the trailing garland at the base. Their reflective finish adds another layer of sparkle while keeping the gold and silver theme cohesive.

Finish the tree by creating a statement topper using one full Gold Leaf Christmas Tree Spray and one full Silver Leaf Christmas Tree Spray.

Hold the two sprays together, securing the stems with a cable tie if needed. At the very top of the tree, find the centre and guide the stems down through the middle of the branches until the sprays sit at your desired height.

Once in position, fluff and separate the individual leaves, spreading the gold and silver stems out to create a full, balanced topper. Adjust the direction and height of the leaves until the topper feels natural, full and connected to the metallic foliage used throughout the rest of the tree.
