Step-by-step
Make sure every branch has been carefully fluffed before you begin adding any decorations. Properly shaping your Christmas tree at the beginning creates a fuller silhouette and gives every bauble, spray and pick somewhere to sit naturally.
To help, you can stand back every few minutes while fluffing to check how the tree is looking from a distance. This makes it much easier to spot any uneven areas that remain.
Once you’re happy with the shape, position your Espresso Velvet Tree Collar around the base before the rest of the decorating. Adding your tree collar first makes it much easier to place neatly around the stand, while complementing the rich espresso tones used throughout the design.
The largest decorations should usually be added to your tree first. So for this espresso and gold look, begin with your 20cm Oversized Espresso Baubles in matt, shiny and glitter finishes.
Position them evenly around the tree, spacing them throughout the branches to create the foundation for the rest of the design. These oversized baubles establish the main espresso colour palette and create bold focal points before the smaller decorations are added.
Using baubles in all three finishes gives the tree more depth than using one finish alone. The matt baubles soften the overall look, the shiny baubles reflect the tree lights and the glitter baubles add sparkle throughout the design.
Now repeat the same process using your 15cm Oversized Espresso Baubles, again mixing matt, shiny and glitter finishes as you work around the tree.

baubles to reflect the lights beautifully.
Alternate the espresso and gold glass baubles as you work around the tree. The gold decorations lift the design with warm highlights, while the espresso baubles keep the richer tones at the heart of the look.
Finish the tree by creating a statement topper using Espresso and Gold Wispy Picks.
Place the picks down through the centre of the top branch, alternating espresso and gold stems as you build the shape. Fan the wispy sections out in different directions so the topper feels full and airy without looking too symmetrical.
You can also secure the picks together with a cable tie before placing them into the tree. This makes them easier to position as one arrangement and helps keep the topper securely in place.
