Step-by-step

Step 1 Shape Your Christmas Tree and Add a Tree Skirt

Make sure each branch has been carefully fluffed before you begin adding your decorations. Properly shaping the tree at the beginning creates a fuller silhouette and gives every bow somewhere to sit naturally.

To help, you can stand back every few minutes while fluffing to check how the tree is looking from a distance. This makes it much easier to spot any uneven areas that remain.

Once you’re happy with the shape, position your Espresso Velvet Tree Skirt neatly around the base before the rest of the decorating. A tree skirt gives the display a soft, luxurious finish while concealing the stand and complementing the rich espresso tones used throughout the design.

Step 2 Position the Oversized Espresso Velvet Bow

The Oversized Espresso Velvet Bow is the focal point of this Christmas tree, so it should be the first decoration you add.

Position the bow towards the top of the tree, making sure it is securely attached and centred. Starting with the statement bow first allows every other decoration to be arranged around it, helping it remain the standout feature of the finished design.

Once the bow is in place, gently shape the loops before weaving the tails into the natural layers of the branches. Rather than letting the tails hang straight down the front of the tree, allow them to flow through the foliage for a softer, more elegant finish.

Step 3 Add Espresso Velvet Double Bows

With the oversized bow in place, begin building the rest of the design using Espresso Velvet Double Bows.

Position the double bows evenly throughout the tree, using them to establish the overall layout while allowing the oversized bow to remain the main focal point. Repeating the same velvet texture across the tree creates balance and carries the rich espresso colour through the design.

Attach each double bow towards the tips of the branches so they remain clearly visible rather than disappearing into the foliage. As you work around the tree, leave space between each bow rather than trying to fill every branch. This creates a more considered look and prevents the finished design from feeling overcrowded.

Step 4 Layer with Espresso Mini Velvet Bows

Once the double bows are in place, add Espresso Mini Velvet Bows between the larger decorations.

The smaller bows help soften the spacing and introduce another layer of detail while keeping the look elegant and understated. By placing them between the larger bows, they help connect each section of the design and make the tree feel fuller without taking attention away from the statement bow.

Attach each mini bow towards the outer tips of the branches, varying their position slightly as you work. This helps create a natural flow around the tree and stops the design from looking too uniform.

Step 5 Finish with Espresso Glass Berry Clusters

To complete the main body of the tree, add Espresso Glass Berry Clusters into the remaining spaces between the bows.

Because they are smaller and more delicate than the velvet decorations, glass berry clusters are ideal for filling any gaps without overwhelming the design. Tuck them slightly into the foliage so they peek through the branches rather than sitting flat on the surface.

Their reflective glass finish catches the warm white lights beautifully, adding subtle sparkle that complements the rich espresso velvet. Used sparingly, they finish the design while keeping the overall look refined and understated.

The Finished Look

Rather than relying on layers of baubles alone, this espresso Christmas tree theme combines velvet bows, a statement bow topper and delicate glass berry clusters to create an elegant festive look with plenty of warmth, texture and depth.

Whether you’re styling a living room, hallway or open-plan space, this espresso velvet theme brings a sophisticated finish to your home and creates a festive centrepiece you’ll enjoy year after year.
