The Burgundy Look

Make sure every branch of your 7 ft Pre-Lit Highland Fir Christmas Tree has been carefully fluffed before you begin adding any decorations. Properly shaping your tree at the beginning creates a fuller silhouette and gives every bauble, pick, cluster and bow somewhere to sit naturally.

To help, you can stand back every few minutes while fluffing to check how the tree is looking from a distance. This makes it much easier to spot any uneven areas that remain.

Once you’re happy with the shape, position your Burgundy Faux Fur Tree Skirt around the base before the rest of the decorating. The rich burgundy colour introduces the palette from the beginning, while the soft faux fur adds texture and creates a warm foundation for the decorations to come.

The largest decorations should usually be added to your tree first. So for this all-burgundy look, begin with your 20cm burgundy baubles in matt, shiny and glitter finishes.

Place them throughout the tree, mixing all three finishes as you work. Avoid following a strict pattern or placing the same finishes too close together; varying their positions will help the burgundy colour flow more naturally across the tree.

Allow some of the baubles to sit slightly deeper within the branches while others sit closer to the outer tips. These oversized baubles create the main structure of the look and establish the rich burgundy colour palette before the smaller decorations are added.

Next, add your 15cm burgundy baubles, again using a mixture of matt, shiny and glitter finishes.

Use these to fill the larger spaces between the 20cm baubles, continuing to scatter the different finishes throughout the tree rather than creating a set pattern. Allow some of the 15cm baubles to sit close to the oversized decorations while others fill their own spaces.

Complete the main bauble layer by adding your 10cm burgundy baubles throughout the tree.

Use these smaller baubles to fill the remaining gaps between the 20cm and 15cm decorations, with a little more focus towards the upper sections where smaller decorations sit more naturally.

Continue alternating between matt, shiny and glitter finishes as you work, stepping back regularly to check the overall balance. At this stage, the tree should have a strong burgundy foundation while still leaving enough greenery visible for the picks, berry clusters, glass baubles and bows.

Next, add Burgundy Glitter Leaf Picks throughout the tree to introduce another texture to the all-burgundy palette.

Each pick has a clip at the base, making it easy to secure directly onto the branches. Use the clips to position the picks within some of the larger spaces between your baubles, allowing the glitter leaves to sit naturally among the different bauble sizes.

Scatter the picks across the whole tree, varying their position and angle as you go. Allow some to sit slightly deeper within the branches and others closer to the outer edges to add texture and depth.

With the main bauble and leaf layers in place, add Burgundy Glass Berry Clusters throughout the tree.

Scatter the clusters among the baubles and glitter leaf picks, using them to fill some of the smaller spaces that remain. Tuck some slightly deeper into the branches so the berries appear to peek through the greenery, while allowing others to sit closer to the outer edges.

Vary the placement as you work around the tree rather than creating an even pattern. The smaller glass berries add another layer of detail and help connect the larger baubles with the finer decorative elements throughout the design.

Next, add Burgundy Glass Baubles throughout the tree, focusing mainly on the ends of the branches.

Scatter the different glass bauble shapes across the tree, allowing them to hang from the outer branch tips rather than tucking them too deeply into the greenery. This helps fill out the overall silhouette and gives the smaller decorations space to stand out among the larger baubles, leaf picks and berry clusters.

Keep the placement varied as you work, spreading the different shapes evenly from top to bottom. The glass finish catches the warm lights beautifully, adding another layer of detail and subtle shine to the rich burgundy look.

For the final decorative layer, add Burgundy Velvet Double Bows across the tree, focusing their placement towards the ends of the branches.

Each bow has a tie at the back, so position it where you would like it to sit and secure it around the branch. Scatter the bows throughout the tree, varying their height and placement so they feel naturally balanced among the glass baubles, berry clusters and glitter leaf picks.

To finish the look, add one final Burgundy Velvet Double Bow to the top branch of the tree, tying it securely in place to create a simple coordinating topper.
